About
We all learn best in different ways and in different environments. This is why Museum Learning Works.

Museums and galleries are a rich resource for learning and are perfect for engaging our senses, imaginations and curiosity. They offer something for all ages and stages of life.
School visits are a significant feature in museums, and are crucial for ensuring that children access heritage and culture. Less prominent in museums are a growing audience of families who are learning differently, either through Elective Home Education or because they experience barriers to school attendance. These ‘Square pegs’ don’t fit into the school system, but still have a right to benefit from museum learning.
For children and young people who can’t access traditional schooling, museums can be safe, welcoming places that allow them to direct their own learning, explore identities and make connections.
This is where Museum Learning Works seeks to support the museum and gallery sector, advocating for families and promoting engagement.
